Original “Hot Box” CH-220
The Hot Box emits 200,000 BTUs per hour and boasts an efficient design made to keep the heat low and actually in your work space, not stuck in the rafters. Prices depend on the hose length (available with a 10’ to 50’ hose), but range between $278 and $360.
For this particular Dragon Heater, Red Dragon fans love that it’s stackable – meaning they can double up on their heating power. It’s perfect for work sites, large garages and machine sheds.
AG-235 – The Cylinder
The Cylinder Dragon Heater Red AG 235 is economical and very lightweight and portable. The unit is retailing right now for just under $100, which is a pretty good price considering it can pump out 210,000 BTUs.
The heater only comes with a 10-foot hose though, which can be a safety problem for some work sites. If you need a longer hose, contact Red Dragon directly to see about customizing your order to include a longer propane hose.
AG-Series “Square Ones”
The AG-85 and AG-215 are both hard-working dragon heaters. If you’re looking to heat a small work site, the AG-85 is perfect. It burns clean propane, gets up to 85,000 BTU and sells for about $89, making it the most affordable Dragon Heater. Red Dragon’s AG-85 will cover an area of up to 15,000 feet for a 40-degree temperature increase.
The AG-215 is a popular Dragon Heater. Red fans love that it cranks out 200,000 BTU and at a retail price of just $95. It’s perfect for machine shops, buildings under construction or drafty, open warehouses.
Like all Red Dragons, it burns clean propane. The design isn’t as small and streamlined as the Hot Box, but it does the job.
Safety Features
Every Red Dragon heater has the same safety features; thermocouple control, this monitors the flame and closes the safety valve if the pilot gets extinguished; Safety Excess Flow, which makes sure the tank fittings are secure; Piezo ignition, this is a push button ignition system that doesn’t require potentially dangerous matches.
When it comes to the Dragon Heater, Red Dragons should only be used in well ventilated areas. They are propane based heaters and while propane burns clean and the heaters are CSA-certified, it’s important to keep the heated area ventilated.
